ABSTRACT

Turkish has been in mutual influence with various languages during its own history. As a result of this mutual influence Turkish has taken words from various languages and has given them many words. Arabic is the main language which Turkish has been in mutual influence. The relation of these two languages started after Turks converted to Islam. Became Kutadgu Bilig, which is considered as the first product of Islamic Turkish Literatıre, is the first work in which Arabic loanwords are densely observed in Turkish language, the history of Arabic loanwords in Turkish written languages should be started from Kutadgu Bilig. This study tries to reveal the situation of Arabic loanwords in modern Turkish dialects considering Kutadgu Bilig as a base.
