ABSTRACT
Greece occupied lamis despite the Mondros Agreement. The activities of Izmir Archbishop Hrisostomos became effective on the invasion. Hrisostomos clamied that Turks murdered Christians. In order to prove this claim, he wrote o book named “Turks’ Attacks against Christions” and distributed it to the representations of the allied powers.
Hrisostomos who welcomed the Grek troops and blessed them commanded the troops to kill Turks. Hrisostomos who was supported by the Armanions caused to hard times for Turks during the invasion.
The man goal was to make Izmir be governed by Greece. Hrisostomos tried to keep Turkish people under pressure by the help of Izmir governor, İzzet. However, defeat of the Grek forces by Turkish army caused Hrisostomos to lose his hopes. The Turkish army arrived in Izmir on September 9, 1922. Finally on 10 th September, Hrisosotoms was lynched by Turks.
