Abstract
The notion of value is one of the most frequent researched topics in the field of social sciences. Values, which make individuals different from each other, might affect these individuals’ behaviors of and decisions. Selection of the political party to be voted is one of these decisions. Voters turn towards a political party with values close to their own in the voting process. Being a member of a political party, voting for this party and establishing long-term relationships with this organization is more possible with the unification of the individual and the organization around common values. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the effect of being a political party member and voter on adopted values. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 395 voters and party members living in Edirne city centre. Schwartz Values Scale was used in the study. As a result of the Mann-Whitney U Test and logistic regression analysis made with the data obtained; it was determined that being a member of a political party increases the importance that individuals attach to various values. In addition, it was revealed that there are statistically significant relationships between values, and education level, age, gender and political party variables.
