ABSTRACT
In this study, those who choose as the subject in Turkish painting portrait artists, and this work was evaluated by the symbolic aspects are discussed in images. In order to do this assessment resources are scanned, who will address this issue in their functioning has been found to be artists. Written in previous years about the artist's writings and interviews with the artists selected were examined this subject face to face as a result of the interviews of the artists works, we tried to create a versatile about perspective. The artists exhibited in museums both national and international works and printed resources according to information obtained by examining the artists in this context have been identified through original artifacts and works of review. As a result of the research it could be called that in Turkish painting portrait painting four basic symbols and symbolic narrative value used in essence taking shape. These are; death, life, reproduction and belief. The selected paintings of stone walls, ruins, birds, grape, jewelry, pieces of fabric made portraits of figures are just some of the accompanying image.
